site - FGF_Ajile The Fort Greene Festival (FGF) is presented by I See Promotions, LLC, in association with the Ajile L. Turner Scholarship Fund  (ALTSF).

ALTSF was established fall 2009 in memory of Ajile L. Turner, a member of the FGF team who was killed tragically in a bike accident. The mission of ALTSF was created to offer need-based scholarships to student applicants who plan or are currently studying a music or entertainment management program at a college or university.

FGF will donate proceeds to ALTSF via the Common Ground Foundation, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization created by hip hop artist, actor, and children’s book author Common. The mission of the Common Ground Foundation is to empower urban youth to find their own voice in this world, while also providing needed resources that will enable them to develop personally and professionally.

Turner, a graduate of Tennessee State University, majored in entertainment management while in college. He went on to establish Echelon Entertainment and served as a key player in the development of the first Fort Greene Festival. Peter Tulloch (FGF Founder and Director) recalls that Turner, a former Fort Greene resident, was a “believer in this vision and he was largely responsible for developing the artist relations we have today.”

Ajile and Common were first cousins. For more information, please visit www.altscholarshipfund.org
